Keep Away Monster! Poem by Ali Rahimi

Keep Away Monster!

Was beside myself with joy
Was breathing next to her
Something nice happened,
Our hands met! ! !
Shocked, irritated and furious,
Like a ready-to-sting scorpion,
This was not on her holy agenda,
She was nonplused, and wrathful
This was the road to hell
I kept away like a wounded dog
she metastsized into a Gorgon
or rather a Virago, or a Medusa
Should I take the shield and
attack her like Perseus?
but she was triumphant and most secure
Was smiling like a little princess
My filthy touch was the leprosy
Of post-modern religion-ridden philosophy
Yes she meant it, keep away monster!
