I can relate to what the ladies who said how their Mom's loved the poem feel. My Mom loved it too. The last night she was in her home she had a spell of some sort. We found her on the floor and got her up into a chair. My children were young then and she asked me to bring her poem book, as she wanted to read Kentucky Belle to them. I did, and she read it, or so I thought. When I went over to take the book, she was holding it upside down. She had it memorized.

I grew up with my mother reciting this poem. She was born n raised in Lexington, KY. She remembered every word, until she went home to be with the Lord at 94

My mother, too! She went home to Heaven at almost 98. We grew up hearing this poem.
