Kind Western Wind Poem by Mankhokwe Namusanya

Kind Western Wind

Blow! Blow! Blow!
down the slopes
Flow! Flow! Flow!
Across the streets.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!
across the cities
And rattle! rattle! rattle
Against all cruelties.

Blow! Blow! Blow!
down the slopes of Mulanje mountain
and make our democracy clean;
So that we should clapper claw
All those who do overshadow
The common man's view.

Flow! Flow! Flow!
Across the streets of Darfur
And do embroider
Many, an innocent resider
Whose life is fading so low.

Ramble! Ramble! Ramble!
Across Harare city
And end the brutality
that makes peace a fantasy
Please do ramble
and make democracy
A possibility.

Kind western winds
Blow from the western isles
And make Africa
Just as you made America!
