Kindness And Compassion Gone. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Kindness And Compassion Gone.

A tiny seed, a brand new start,
A baby bird with beating heart.
Everything begins, we know,
A gentle push, a steady flow.

Columbus sailed, a distant shore,
He sought the East, but found much more.
In fourteen ninety-two he came,
And changed the world, not quite the same.

He never saw the land so grand,
That stretches out, on either hand,
But pointed west, a brand new chance,
For many folks, from many lands.

Then people came, in growing tide,
The old ways changed, the old ways died.
The native tribes, pushed far away,
Their stories lost, day by day.

A land was built, a dream took hold,
Of streets of gold, a story told.
Now borders close, the doors grow tight,
And some believe that might make right.

The strong survive, they like to say,
But kindness blooms along the way.
Remember seeds, and how they grow,
And let compassion gently flow.

Kindness And Compassion Gone.
