Kingdom's Quandary Poem by Shane Markie

Kingdom's Quandary

'Where the wild rainbow like a great giraffe
curves down its neck to drink upon the sea...'

~Norman Cameron~

You wear a coat of countless colors,
Under the pretense that all men are brothers.
Both by the Sun's soverignty and the Moon's rule
Your innate wisdom belies a fate so cruel:

Above the palace gates, rainbow hues remain suspended,
Whilst in the crimson courtyard painted below, are bodies of those souls Her Majesty's command both ruefully defended,
then denied as defenders of the crown. With bare and brazen
hands they beat the masses back, and with hasty retreat such
quandary at the Kingdom's border ended.
