Lamps Poem by Mohini Gurav

Lamps

Beautiful clay lamps gleam with vibrant light
They fade the darkness away
From the lives of the poor
Who struggle with problems day and night.

The rich have never shown their plight
As they are supposed to be full of might.
Lamps enlighten their life too
With lot of healing power true.

Affordable to the poor
They become contented and happy sure
After seeing rows of bright lamps that lure.
Lamps illuminate their dark huts and
The poor draw strength from lamps and
Face crisis with patience, tolerance and guts.

Some generous rich offer gifts,
Sweets and donations
This adds happiness to Diwali celebrations.
Lamps dispel the darkness of mind too
and pave the way to enlightenment true.
Lamps teach us to give away,
Be generous and kind.
Gently in beautiful relations we bind.

Some beautiful lamps are made
By orphans and handicapped
They take joy in decorating them
With love and dedication.
It adds sophistication when these
Lovely lamps are artistically wrapped
And sent to their ultimate destination.

Bursting crackers add drastic pollution
Unnecessary imbalance in ecology
To lead to disastrous culmination.
Let us celebrate Eco-friendly Diwali
Without adding problems to this
Wonderful beautiful creation.
Lamps teach lessons of life
Through demonstration.

Let's learn the way lamps sacrifice
And light themselves to give
Unconditional selfless love and devotion
Diwali and Lamps is a wonderful combination
Rejuvenating us with motivation
Let us all rejoice in this Diwali celebration.
