Lantern Town Poem by Zhang Zao

Lantern Town

lantern town, lantern town
you - like the latest fake news
nobody wants you
unless you build a statue for yourself

( Chorus )
fake statue, a statue
extravagant decadence

( Voices offstage )
where is it, where is it

a tiger holds the statue in its mouth
into the last woods it fades away

the statue is wrapped in dusk
like in its bowels

lantern town, lantern town, I don't want to breathe
