Las Vegas Poem by MARINA GIPPS

Las Vegas

Rating: 5.0

I pretended I was wealthy.
Spent money I never had.
Spent until I was spent,
Deep down inside and dirty.
Pockets where my breasts peeked
And my downtrodden bosom of hope waned endlessly
In the darkest corners of the night.
I was alone.
Always alone it seemed but I carried you with me.
Somehow I walked a lone vain waltz.
There were people everywhere and yet no one had seen me.
This is the circus master’s town.
With our concrete villa of Italy and adorned gods of gold still glistening.
With gilded dreams I walked alone.
Hoping the end was somehow near.
That I would elope with a casino owner
And have mad passionate sex deep into the night.
