Last Taste Poem by Gil MAHANEY

Last Taste

Lingering morsel
Resonate in my mind
As if you were still
On my palate
So bitter that you're
Gone from my tongue
Ever so sweet
The surprise that
You were here
And now my grateful soul
Is hollow with hunger
Fore as sure as my hungry heart
Did visit you with intentions
Lusty and ravenous
Passionately devouring
Every delicious moment
With you like tomorrow
Might never come
But tomorrow has come
And the light of dawn finds me
Naked and alone
Having nearly wasted
And not fully tasted
The sweetness given to me in
The night before
But the rapture of you
Will play forever in my memory
Making my last taste of you
Sweeter all the more
