Last Year Poem by TMA

Last Year

Rating: 5.0

Last year’s wishes
Are this year’s apologies
Last year’s hopes
Are this year’s disappointments
Last year’s faith
Is this year’s disillusionment
And last year’s tragedy
Is this year’s entertainment…

This year, don’t allow yourself
To be cast away in some corner
Quiet and unobtrusive
Conveniently forgotten
Like a New Year’s Resolution
NO:
Stand up and be counted,
Wake up and do…

May you be able to see clearer
With a new year’s resolution
May the excess of this year
Be next year’s bare minimum
May this year’s sorrow
Be next year’s laughter
And this year’s laughter
As sorrow in its joy.

Stretch out your wings and fly;
The years certainly have
And the most I could wish for you
Is that you enjoy every second of them;
Milk every dropp of life
From every moment
Till; exhausted, spent, depleted –
You exchange the old year for the new…
