Lemon Touch Poem by Thomas Dooley

Lemon Touch

Did not know you would criticise me so much
Told you all my secrets thought it was only you that I could trust
Your words are like a knife you found my pain
Will you please go away

You got that lemon touch
Sour to the taste stinging to a paper cut
Will my love sweeten you up
Your lemon touch

When I meet you your eyes took me by surprise
Your smile made me feel this was my time
You asked me out so I followed
Didn't know a few months later you would ask me to go

You got that lemon touch
Sour words I wish I never heard
That just the games of a childish girl
Your lemon touch

Your vitamin C I thought was all I need
This friendship didn't cure the scurvy in me
Was this all a dream relationship is a mystery
No more conversation that ends in please, please, please

You got that lemon touch
Not enough sugar in this world that will sweeten you up
Some things in life you just can't trust
Your lemon touch
