Lessons Learned Poem by Dustin Newman

Lessons Learned

I'll never forget the time and the place.
Every single moment that I glimpsed your silhouette.
Your eyes bear witness to my folly
Though forgivness is their nature.
A soft, gentle glimmer from within a deep well
They provide the comfort I seek.
Our time is precious.
I didn't see it that way.
How foolish I was.
The moments are not a firmly planted tree.
Whose roots embeded so deeply, cannot be pryed from its hillside.
I can't see your face beyond the words.
What are you thinking?
I'll never know.
Doubt weighs heavy on an already burdened heart.
It threatens to part soul from body day by day.
Memories fill mind with joy but sour with reality.
Dreams bring forth the chance to see you once more.
The mornings light is a cursed thing to take you away.
The days are longer, colder and without remorse.
Inconceivable notions break ones attention.
I am searching for...
A place I havent been in a very long time.
A place where everyone around me is at. But yet seems miles from me.
Forget, I try. It does no good when every thing I see or hear reminds me of you.
It will pass. I will not die from this agony but reap lessons learned.
