The rain has fallen today,
washing away the ice of bygone days.
The roof gleams bright, the tulip garden has turned sacred-serene.
Feeling at peace, at peace, I breathe in the air deep.
The seeds and genes of plants are evolving,
the gray shades have immersed in a play of many colors.
My lungs have filled with fragrance,
on our balcony, a vibrant lilac sways its tail.
I deeply wish
that in my homeland too, it would rain—torrential rain,
washing away the mud and the filth.
Let night-blooming jasmine, roses, or jasmine bloom,
let people see the garden-view, breathe in the fragrance deep.
Let there be peace, peace in my delta too, let human living become stable, serene.
