Let Me Explain Poem by bob barci

Denying myself, to feel as I do,
won't do me any good.
Feeling outrageously happy to extremely guilty –
just part of my emotional makeup.
Taking time to sort out these emotions
and discovering what turns them on,
is what I need to do.
I mean you no harm – physically or emotionally.
If I do, do you harm, it is unintentional
and it arouses my feelings of sadness and guilt.
I need space to explain my view.
Space – to understand yours – fully.
I need to know that we are on the same side of the fence.
So, let me explain, as best I can
these feelings of mine, whenever necessary.
Most times I'll be filled with unspoken words
and I'll need to know
that no explanation is needed.
