Lie Back And Think About Camelot Poem by Mary Champion

Lie Back And Think About Camelot

Oh lady, just lay back and let it be
And let that white knight come and set you free.
Whoever heard a lady escape her own distress?
That knight in shining armour's gonna get you out this mess.

I know it tries your patience; it's so long,
And you get scared you've got the story wrong
But Women's Lib, or not, you'll have to wait
Until I bring our hero up to date.

So Lady, just lay back and let it be,
It's sure to be all right, I'll make you see.
There has to be a purpose for a man to feel alive,
There has to be a reason, or he won't want to survive.
A man has got a fundamental need
To find a ladylove and see her freed.
But Lady you won't face a loss of pride,
It's you who locked the tower door and threw the key outside.

It's you who put piranhas in the moat
And drilled holes in the bottom of the boat.
It's you who raised the dragons he must fight
To prove it to himself that he's a knight.
It's you, who cast the spell upon his eyes,
So he can't see through all your tricks and lies.
It's you who planned it all, that's how it goes.
Its Woman grafted thorns onto the rose.
