Life Be Too Short For 'o Ruing... - Poem by Frank James Ryan Jr (FjR)
Read between my words, as I am not about goodbyes;
hear my ink-lines speak to you what my tongue cannot.
I feel that ice of turbulence against my spine, burning-
like yours and it carries a crippling weight of regret.
Life's too short, death too tall, a mortal obstacle,
to think ourselves exempt from lifes inevitables.
We can close our eyes at night yet our actions never sleep;
last night I thought I heard the sound of friendship breaking.
And I bristle at the thought of moving on from this;
So much left unresolved yet my Father always said:
'We can only do the very best our very best can carry,
as once we've carried all we can, our conscience will be pure.
Life be far too short for 'o ruing, said my Father...H E E D!
For a Heavy-Heart in lieu of Peace of Mind, is no alternative.
