Life Of A Woman Life Of A Pillar Poem by Monkgogi 'Rhetoric' Moshaga

Life Of A Woman Life Of A Pillar

Rating: 3.5

In the damp and comfort of a sac i lay
i floated, away from pascals of the world.
In the peace and walls of a womb for trimesters,
safe from prejudice and labour....
though it is through labour that i was brought unto this world.

Now i crawl for movement, i on my knees and hands have become mobile.
Till time, till time i am ripe and grew wild sensitive plums on my chest and curves on my waist...
Cycles depart potential beings from me...but tis not for long that i waste life...

For a man i have, by law we are one.It is he who by his thrust,
it is he who by his will i have brought beings unto this world.
I am now a voluntary slave, i work day in and day out,
day by day to feed them all, i have no time for the mall.
I am the sea, i am life in flesh and labour.
Without my efforts there is no life....
at rest i feel guilt for i can never do enough for my family.
Past years have grown large and so has my time here...

I am way past my prime, fit for the earth.
When i am part of nature making soils fertile,
you shall live through me.For i am brine and no soil shall be more fertile than thine.
Tis not sweet as ever, for i am gone and my waters flood my children,
cheeks are all covered in salt water.
I am the sea that drowned my husband.

For i am gone and no more in flesh,
but in lands that this world always pollute....
either way, in flesh or in nutrient i am your pillar.
Through my remains plants shall sustain you.
I am a slave by life, a mother, a wife...but now i am what was life!
