Lifetimes Poem by Howard Osborne

Lifetimes

LIFETIMES

A lifetime of feelings that have to escape
Some so intense that they leave me agape
They sound like the flick of a leader tape
With new opportunities they will engage
And even to strut and fret upon the stage
A lifetime is finite, so the decision is now

A lifetime of images that must stay awake
Accepting a different road they must take
On permanent display, for their own sake
Their impact on others one has to guage
No wave of a wand from genie or mage
A lifetime is finite, so the decision is now

A lifetime of words that will become free
With the promise to be filled with ecstasy
And avoid the worst strictures of poetry
They may not be quiet, but full with rage
As they may indeed go on a full rampage
A lifetime is finite, so the decision is now

A lifetime of memories that cannot hide
Let loose to breathe air, no longer inside
A new reality where they may now abide
So let them all out from their mental cage
The meanings are clear, so need of a sage
A lifetime is finite, so the decision is now

A lifetime of promises, at least to oneself
No longer left forgotten on a dusty shelf
Nor ever be realised by some dutiful elf
But kept, yet some are wrinkled with age
It's finally the right time to turn the page
A lifetime is finite, so the decision is now

Lifetimes
