Lift me up, before I lose my identity
Before I am swallowed by the repetition
Of bitter upbringings and benevolent history
Of the envious descendants of the whitewashed culture
Lift me up from the weight of these chains
That try to bind me to a past that's not my own
From the expectations and stereotypes that reign
From the narrow-minded views that have been shown
Lift me up, away from the boxes that confine
The limitless potential that lies within
From the labels and judgments, I want to decline
From the constant struggle, I want to begin
Lift me up to the stars and beyond
To a place where I can truly be free
Where my spirit can soar and respond
To the call of my heart, the whisper of me
Lift me up, break the cycle of repetition
That stifles my growth and limits my dreams
Let me escape the chains of tradition
And rise above, to reach for the moonbeams
Lift me up, and let me find my own voice
In a world where everyone wants to speak
Where I am not just another nameless noise
But a unique soul with something to seek
Lift me up, out of the shadows of the past
Where the envious descendants thrive and reign
Where my identity is constantly harassed
And my true self is hard to ascertain
Lift me up, and let me taste the sweet air
Of a future that's full of endless possibility
Where my roots are strong, but I am free to dare
To be whoever I want to be, in all my authenticity
Lift me up, and let me break the chains
That bind me to a history not my own
Where I am more than just a mere refrain
In a song that's been sung for far too long
Lift me up, and let me soar with the eagles
Away from the narrow judgments and ways
Where I am not just another of society's pebbles
But a unique gem, shining in its own blaze
Lift me up, and let me find my true identity
Beyond the expectations and limits of the past
Where I can be proud of my own legacy
And my own story, in this world that's vast
Lift me up, for I am more than just a name
In a history of whitewashed and privileged culture
I am a soul with its own unique flame
And I refuse to let anyone diminish its stature
So lift me up, and let me spread my wings
For I am ready to fly and to be free
Away from the repetition and all that it brings
To a future that's mine, to shape and to see.
