Like A Drum Poem by Cindy Rheeder

Like A Drum

My heart starts beating like a drum,
It’s a subtle little hum,
That makes me aware of how I feel,
And it’s a pretty done deal,
When you look me in the eyes,
And I get flustered with butterflies,
To look you back into your eyes,
And convince myself of all the lies,
I tell myself to hide,
It’s just rules I have to abide,
‘cause falling in love with you is wrong,
Even when my pulse pumps like a dong,
But you smile that smile when you say my name,
And I can’t keep my hearts pace the same,
My heart starts beating like a drum,
It’s a subtle little hum,
That makes me so aware of how you make me feel,
Making me realize loving you is a done deal.
