Like Any Other Man Poem by Gregory Orr

Like Any Other Man

Like any other man
I was born with a knife
in one hand
and a wound in the other.
In the house where I lived
all the mirrors
were painted black.
So many years
before the soft key of her tongue
unlocked my body.
