Lioness In The Shadows Poem by Katherine H. Belle

Lioness In The Shadows

What a cruel god to create such an animal
The kind who wants what she cannot have
The massochistic beast that
surrounds itself with delectible prey
But she is a vegitarian
And not by nature
but by need and almost unbareable force
A pounding heartbeat fills her ears
and she sees the vein buldge from the neck of that graceful bird
Feathers ruffled by discomfort
always in the prescence of that dreadful lioness
She can smell it, but where does it hide
the bird cannot know that she is there
So the lioness stays hidden behind a mask.
She can smell the sweet scent of the bird
taste it on her tounge,
and beneath her
rather inside her
a fire is reborn
And she wants it
She needs it
To taste that bird upon her quivering lips
and know that she has conqoured it
that it would finally be hers.
