Little Bird Poem by Precy Brozas Varilla

Little Bird

How could you?
How could you
Hold me back?
Just free me
I desire not
To be your bird
In an iron cage.
Let me go
And let me breathe
I want my solace
Hence, let me find
What I deserve
Let me flutter
And uncover
The secret treasure
Of my own measure.

If not.....
Feed me no more
With another pious lie
Shut the door
I'll drink a cup of sigh
'Til I lose life's color
'Til the evening is nigh
Dark heart,
Let me soar
Shunned fate,
Let me fly.

If not.....
Let me turn my back
On this mundane world
If freedom is as scarce
As a shining gem,
Out from my veins
I'll let my blood pour
'Til my soul is sore
Take my shackles away
Grant me mine liberty
Lest in freedom I'll sail

Elsewise,
In the morrow
No longer I shall sing
In the refuge of silence
Hear my vow
I shall wither
Shed every single feather
'Til I'm bare as a bone
Empty as the lonely moon
Clear my way, I shall fly
Keep me and I shall die.
