Longing Poem by Pat Kunisch

Longing

Leaves falling - now and then
Winds blowing, bees flirting
Butterflies visiting and passing by
They see and kiss
The flowers dancing -
When no one’s watching
But - I know
That they did

Visions of the mind conceal
Long lost places -
Reaching to be touched
Seeking to be heard and seen
Yet - voices do not listen
To restless murmurs
Thru knowing eyes -
I view their silence

The summer breeze calls my name
To join its gathering
All the same -
I sit inside my domain
Longing to touch
The distant laughter
Hands outstretched –
I grasp at empty space
