Longing For Day And Night Poem by Oktay Rifat

Longing For Day And Night

This won't do, it won't work! One day
This disturbance will stop, you'll be born to the Sun.
You'll see again like an old picture
The sky at tbe window, the book on the table,
Your grief, your worries bathed, purified,
Your towel, sheet, shirt all in a row
Will fly up fluttering in the wind.
Where are you, daylight laughing with labour,
Where are you, night full of beautiful smells!
