Longing For Summertime. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Longing For Summertime.

Winter sleeps, a frosty gray,
Each slow day, a longer way.
My heart sighs, for spring's sweet grace,
Sunlight warm, upon my face.

Birdsong calls, a joyful sound,
Where snow once lay, green life is found.
Squirrels leap, with playful chase,
Up the trees, at a frantic pace.

Hummingbirds, a blur of wings,
Tiny jewels, the summer brings.
Cicadas hum, a vibrant song,
All the day, both loud and long.

Fireflies glow, in twilight deep,
Tiny lanterns, secrets keep.
While winter waits, its icy tomb,
I dream of blossoms, yet to bloom.

Perhaps we should, like bears so wise,
In cozy dens, shut winter's eyes.
To wake refreshed, when days are bright,
And bathe our souls, in golden light.
