Looking In Mirrors Poem by lola cesini

Looking In Mirrors

Rating: 5.0

As we look in our children's faces
We look for little pieces of ourselves
Color of eyes, crooked nose
Freckles, dimples on bright smiles
Maybe kindness or a little patience
Thoughtfulness and compassion
Traits we instill hopefully
To those we leave behind

We try to see reflections of ourselves
Looking for the best we could have been
Hoping to find it in our children
Thinking with them, we will find redemption
Looking for a glimpse of the future
In how we will be remembered
Our forever is with them
They are our legacy.
