Looking Into A Dream Poem by Jaime Montanez Salcedo

Looking Into A Dream

In a lugubrious, forbidding night,
Reveling thunder seeming cannonade
Arose me from my slumbers in a fright
Prompting vestiges of my dream to fade.
Thus pondering, I knew what I had lost,
A fantasy, which I could just express
As an evolving mist that swiftly frost
Into figure, I never shall possess.
Who sought to tease my imagination?
And whom propinquity led me in suspense?
I would never know of such temptation
But for some words muttered with expedience,
In a voice that softly said, 'Remember,
I loved you, who I am for you to wonder.'
