Loosening Lockdown In An Unjust World Poem by Mary Champion

Loosening Lockdown In An Unjust World

If you're rich and your childcare is Nanny,
you can go back to work, Mum and Dad.
if you're poor and your childcare is granny,
you can stay home and starve it's too bad.

If you're rich and essential to Boris,
you can travel for miles, they won't mind.
If you're poor, then to add to your worries,
if you step out of line you'll be fined.

If you fear that you've got faulty vision
you can drive thirty miles when it suits,
if you don't have some kind of collision,
needn't go to Specsavers or Boots.

If you're Amazon, e-bay or Google
you'll be raking it in through Lock-down,
but you'll have to accept being frugal
if you've got a small bus'ness in town.

And the worst of it is, any profit
will be taxed to the hilt, do not doubt
while the monsters of Mammon deposit
in tax havens where they pay nowt.
