Lost Fairy Tale Of Treblinka Poem by Maurice Rowlands

Lost Fairy Tale Of Treblinka

Like a shadow Aphrodite
Emerging from the flames
Of their pyres
Demon made, human fires
Filled with lost hopes and desires

They marked me with Jude
They took my gold
They took my hair
They murdered the old
No empathy, no care

I seek my lost love
Here in Treblinka
But I am a ghost
On the spirit side
Is he now there

I search through these forests
Scorched and burning
In this land once so fair
I am drowning
In this acrid cursed air

Like a shadow Aphrodite
Wandering lost
I search for my love
An eternal cost
For their holocaust
