Love... Poem by Sanjib Saha

Love...

I called out to you,
And you stood still.
You stood under the
Henna tree.
You told me 'Why wander,
Carrying the darkness
Beyond the wall,
That descends the devdar tree.
I hold the light -
Can you touch it? '

Without looking back,
I stepped straight
Into their courtyard,
Hearing the tinkling of bangles,
A fragrance that mingled with
Burnt bread and bodily fragrance
at dusk.

Your gaze held immense light!
