Love Poem by Clare Murgor

Love

would I write of love if I was not in love
Would I speak with thoughts of him if I did not long for him

I would not talk about how it felt in the dark
How it felt holding on to the last falling leaf
Holding on to a loosening thread
And feel the warmth of a lover
Feel the beauty of love
But all he did was just hold my hand

Would I write if I was not so drunken in love
If I was not so blinded by his sight

He gives light meaning in my world
Colors definition by my request
And a song from every word I speak
But do not pick me up as I fall
Fall for the warmth in his eyes
Fall for the traps hidden in his smile
Or the gentleness that is in his voice

I would fall for it
Be blind and not choose to see light
Because even when I fall I land safe
And as I go blind the colors are more bright and beautiful
