Love If You Love Me Based Off Creeley's Poem Poem by Elizabeth Haasch

Love If You Love Me Based Off Creeley's Poem

love if you love me
lie next to me
be for me like the rain
the getting out of the tiredness
the fatiousness the semi lust
of intentional indifference

I heard this poem
spoke at a distance
and you were there
seeing things unseen
now we lay here and wonder the difference between
the unknown unheard unspoken unseen

here I tell you
with a heart of compassion
love with fear engaged with hope
let me leave you with words once spoken
be wet with a decent happiness

let me just tell you the difference between
you and me
eyes of blue staring out
heart of gold for you to hold
love is what the bond has given
for our story to unfold

my last chapter my last verse
are for your smarts to hold
hold my heart my hands my all
be like rain please let it fall
and I will sing this lullaby for you to sleep through the night

Peace and comfort
I have left you with
standing here everything is clear
the rain may fall but through it all
I’ve realized what I want and need is you

love if you love me lie next to me
