You fooled me once,
but never again
no never again will I
fall for those lies
or that look in your eyes,
no matter what magic you try.
I've seen through you now
and no matter how
you flirt and flatter and smile,
I won't be convinced
that I've ever glimpsed
a trace of true love all the while.

Oh baby, you wouldn't know love
if it spat in your eye.
I can't understand how you live with yourself
when you're always living a lie.
But darlin' you're due
for a lesson or two
before long.
You're going to see
just how hurt you can be
when your cynical plans
turn out wrong.

You've been bending our ears
with reports of your tears,
cos you think you've been hurt in the past.
but it's none of it real,
cos you ain't learned to feel.
But you're due for that lesson at last.

Yeah, one day you'll find there's a lady you love
as true as yours truly loves you,
and you'll long for her so,
but she won't wanna know,
cos she'll never believe you'd be true.

So how will you prove
that you're ready to move
from playing around all the while?
You've told all those lies
with your lips and your eyes
and deceived everyone with your smile.
So where is the way
such a liar can say,
‘I love you.'?
When you fall you will see
just how sweet love can be.
But she'll never believe you'll be true.

when she will not play
and assumes what you say,
dDoesn't mean anything cos you lie.
