I drew his name
In lipstick on my mirror
Then left a kiss print
As a reminder
No one else is the same
I doodled on my notebook
In ink of many colors
His name and then mine
To imagine
How it would sound and look
In childlike ways
Of giddy elation
Evoking youthful
Actions from
Those innocent days
When crushes were exciting
New and hopeful
Thoughts of romance
From movie scenes
And passion requiting
But I am grown
Yet taken aback
By the happiness
Born from this connection
And this joy has shown
Reduced to my
Schoolgirl ways
A skip in my step
A smile on my face
His name brings a sigh
While my heart
feels youthful
renewed and awake
I know to be thankful
So we’ll never part
For what he brings
Is abundance
And respect
I’ll offer the same
So that true love rings
