Love... Plain And Simple... Poem by Derrick Andrews

Love... Plain And Simple...

Fleeing from my feelings, desperately trying to hide,

I can't help but feel like I'm empty inside,

My heart was ripped out, its parts torn asunder,

And I was forced to watch, my eyes wide with wonder,

Heartbroken and devastated, I trudge along through life,

Another failure added to my long list of strife,

As if that was a suprise, I can do no right,

Happiness for me, seems far out of sight,

I'm weary and depressed, life has taken its toll,

My heart shattered to pieces, like a lump of black coal,

My unrepairable sadness grows stronger within me,

I'm no longer nearly as kind as I should be,

Love, just a word, it means nothing to at all,

It is nothing but a weakness that allows you to fall,

An ailment, a disease, a sickness of the soul,

That feels great when you have it, which makes it quite droll,

Its warmth fills your soul, until it's all that you need,

But it can disappear instantly, at a frightening speed,

Leaving your insides quite barren, amidst in regret,

As your heart freezes slowly, you quickly forget,

How to live life without love, after having so much,

These are the horrid results, of love's deadly touch...
