Loves Excessive Force - Poem by Lynzi Berner

Our love was like
the ocean

Calm and serene
Beautiful and Inviting
Powerful and dangerous

We surrounded ourselves
in our love
Our passion for life
and one another
Painted rainbows
in every ince of the sky

The stars rained down
lighting up the night
Throwing off shadows
and revealing
our intertwined souls

I guess when I woke up
and found myself
Standing
alone
on the shore
With the stars once more
Shining
stationary
in the velvet sky
And our rainbows
Gone
vanished
into the storm clouds
Gathering over the sea
to release their
first wave
of mourning

I should have known

A love like ours
has to end
with excessive force

And what could be
forceful
than to disappear
into the shadows
that our love
once mocked
