Maggie Poem by Nicholas Maddison

Maggie

She has gone
Left this world
Quietly whisked away
She may have left
And is no more
But her deeds
And sins linger

We won the war
We lost the pits
Both came with a price
That still scars the country
Poll tax to riots
Post office to Buzby
And water to the highest bidder

Well Maggie’s gone
She did us good
And she did us harm
She stood her ground
When others would fail
So rejoin Dennis
He’s waiting for you.
