Mary's Prayer 2017 Poem by Mary Champion

Mary's Prayer 2017

I know I am probably wasting my breath,
but this is a matter of life and death,
so, I'll have to give it a go anyway,
in the last remote hope you have something to say.

Dear God or Goddess; he, she or it,
couldn't you, please, see things our way a bit?
You say we are sinners, but you made us fools
and it's a bad workman who blames his dumb tools.

The get out, of course, is free will. Much too pat!
For we never chose to be free - answer that!
It's a mad CEO who throws over the reins
and leaves it to morons to maximise gains,

to keep their creation effective- afloat.
You must have foreseen that we'd scupper the boat.
Your laissez-faire outlook will see us in Hell,
adrift in a gale and it doesn't bode well.

For now, Donald Trump has just taken control
of your own dear country - we fear for our soul.
If you are so smart, then you have to confess,
it's time to abandon this unholy mess.

It's time to come clean and admit you've screwed
up,
that your spin doctor clerics have sold us a pup.
It's time for the Rapture to rescue our race
before the whole cosmos blows up in our face.

Amen!
