Match Point Poem by Amgad Samy

Match Point

It was a crucial moment in his entire life
Drops of sweat sparkled like diamonds on his forehead
when sun rays encountered them in time
before they fell to disappear in the soft grass
his eyes were concentrated on his fellow opponent
they were vying severely for long hours
history was waiting impatiently just for one only
the other would remain in the shadows for a while
until glory sympathized and gave him another chance
He looked at the audience who applauded enthusiastically
they wished the epic battle had no end
among them his lovely wife was backing him faithfully
he needed that when silence took over
all events of his life displayed in his mind like an exciting movie
since he was a ball boy he dreamed of this match point
he held a green ball so tenderly as if he was convincing it to obey
he made sure that another one was still in his pocket
wishing to use it in a glorious moment of celebration
his racket was ready to hit the green ball according to his order
it didn't disappoint him and he served an incredible ace
He dazzled the audience and the tennis court became a stage
The trophy belonged to him and his name was carved on it
tears of happiness chased his drops of sweat on the grass
at last he became a champion after years of suffering
