May Norton Poem by Justin Gildow

May Norton

May Norton plays the piano downtown in the Concert Hall
Located somewhere in the Promenade
The beauty of her melody
The music she plays
Is so clear that it leaks through the walls
And can be heard around town

I walk through the door of the Concert Hall
I make my way to the auditorium
I walk down the aisle
I take a seat in the front row
I sit back and listen intently
And I smile

I can see her smile
For she knows I'm here
She knows of my appearance
She knows of my presence
And also that she loves this particular piece of music that she's playing

I can see her glow as she plays

As she finishes her piece
As she finishes playing
She walks down the steps towards me
Quiet and intently
But still keeping her smile
She takes me by the hand
And walks me up to the piano

She thanks me for coming to watch her play
And that she's awaiting the presence of the heavenly light
On this particular day
Which within a few hours will become night

A gentle glow shines through the roof and stops in front of her feet
She smiles to me and lets go of my hand
She floats up into the sky
Where she tells me she'll be arriving some time in heaven

I say my goodbye to her
And I waved whole heartedly to her
May Norton
