Meeting The Parents Poem by Sean Toland

Meeting The Parents

Meeting the parents, it should be a breeze,
Someone as charming as me should do it with ease,

An uncomfortable silence, I try to keep fluent,
Mentioning drugs, and a school spent truent,

Maybe the strong silent type is what she would prefer,
But I can't keep silent, or even hold her stare,

Is it getting hotter i definately feel heat,
I'm so nervous I can barely feel my feet,
My words make no sense, it couldn't go any worse,
I'm paying too much attention hoping i don't curse,

I'm sweating and paranoid, My nerves falling apart,
How I got in this position, I must blame my heart,
I continue on, talking about illegal fauna and flora,
when the only thing we agree on is we both care for laura.
