Memories Poem by Jaime Montanez Salcedo

Memories

The wondrous visions and dreams our days tease,
Thus in merrily voluptuous breeze
Flowing in untraced path, fancy free,
Autumnal leaves revolve with flirtatious spree.
So many a time, chosen memories,
With sweets, beauties and quiescent ecstasies,
Congruous with love's vibrant images,
The soul from time to time warmly assuages
Concealed sorrows, befuddling and dimmed,
Rescuing to its joy their essence untrimmed.

They are full of visions subtle or sublime,
The casual gleaming of a lifetime,
Then rising as dreams placid mood they find,
But when at the volition of the mind,
Whispering to our heart what we want to know,
Those sweet memories graces to us bestow.
So passionately bright in sea of lights,
Shedding with subtle cadence all delights,
Imbue in ardor to our thought parade,
And our mind with thoughts of love serenade

The quiddity of life is naught but memories,
From alacrity to adversities,
Crystallized in vivid dreams of enchantment,
To burst in images in view opulent,
Of emotions and daring secrecies,
Seized by the senses to prevail as memories.
They lead us through a vaporous threshold,
Into magical visions to behold,
Soothing with love the soul which does bemoan,
And we wrap in them when we are alone.

In their mystic steps to our mind they grope,
Like wind that in the sea's vastness brings hope
To sailor with lifeless sails in his mast,
And from his lonesome fears is rescued at last.
We summon up memories day and night,
Cradling joy and sorrows, rich in hope and fright,
To foster life, yet memories life need,
So what's to begin, the flower or the seed?
Life and memories are but one stream in flow,
As today will be yesterday tomorrow.
