Memories Poem by PHIL WINTER

Memories

Rating: 5.0

Memories!
Like a picture frame of Life's experiences.
Memories!
Glimpses of the past!
Haunting scenes of the drama of Life!
Memories!
The sweet ones of love, joy, passion
Remain scattered on the subconscious
Like flowers spreading their fragrance on the night air!
Memories!
The painful reminders
As those of the Preacher raving from the pulpit
About damnation and hellfire for the sinner!
Memories!
Of the congregation staring heavenward in fear
Or looking over their shoulder in dread
Or some, head bent, praying for forgiveness of sins
And wondering if the end was near!
Memories!
The sweet ones- - lighting up the soul!
Memories!
The bitter ones- - torturing like daggers stabbing in the back!
And time - the catcher
Holds tight
And squeezes the life from the veins!
