Memories As Clear As Day Poem by Muriel Ruth Emerson

Memories As Clear As Day

Memories clear as day
Are ringing through my brain
How do I make them stop?
How do I make them go away?
Why do I see you in this light?
Why do you run through my mind all hours of the night?
All through the day too
No matter what I am doing
Somehow our memories come in
As clear as day they happen before me
I can see the sweat on your face
I can see your blue eyes looking straight into mine
I can see the light bouncing off your blonde hair
And I can see that tear
The one you are trying to hide
Memories as clear as day
Keep me awake at night
Fighting with me until the morning light comes
How do I make them stop?
