Messenger Poem by The Poet SPIEL

Messenger

backwards coming in
not the way it should be

yet it's he the courier
with something of value
something urgent

but their ears
are caught up
and they spare
no time for his lips

as the quake rumbles
towards
and the foundation
crumbles beneath

this humble messenger's
foresight is taken
for that of a fool
rudely interrupting

the great wisdom
of "they" in hallowed places
who are dedicated
to such somber matters

a simple man would be
too shallow to foresee
