By Mohammad A. Yousef
In the heart of the desert, where ancient sands whisper tales
Of empires long fallen, of conquest and betrayal
There lies a land of turmoil, of chaos and despair
Where the cries of the oppressed mingle with the scorching air
The Middle East, a region rich in history and strife
A battleground for powers seeking dominion and life
Where borders are drawn in blood, and allegiances shift like sand
And dreams are shattered by the merciless hand
From the ruins of Aleppo to the streets of Baghdad
From the hills of Tehran to the shores of Riyadh
The echoes of war resound, a relentless drumbeat
As factions clash and innocents retreat
Syria, torn apart by civil strife
Iraq, a nation on the edge of a knife
Yemen, a land besieged by violence and hunger
Lebanon, a country divided, torn asunder
In the shadow of oppression, voices rise in protest
But they are met with bullets, with tear gas and arrest
As dictators cling to power, crushing dissent with an iron fist
And the people yearn for freedom, for a future they have missed
Palestine, a land of sorrow, of a people displaced
By a conflict that has raged for generations, unerased
As brothers turn against brothers, and neighbors become foes
And the promise of peace fades, as hatred grows
In the midst of this chaos, there are glimmers of hope
Courageous souls who refuse to bow, who refuse to cope
Women who stand up for their rights, for equality
Men who defy the oppressors, who demand accountability
But the road to peace is long, and the hurdles are many
As outside powers meddle, playing games for their own penny
The oil flows, the arms deals are struck
The lives of millions are treated as mere luck
In the midst of this chaos, there are stories untold
Of love and laughter, of dreams that unfold
Of artists and poets, of activists and teachers
Who strive to build a better world, to mend the breaches
So let us not forget, in the midst of the storm
That the Middle East is more than a land forlorn
It is a cradle of civilization, a place of beauty and grace
Where hope springs eternal, in every face
And though the road ahead may be fraught with danger
And the path to peace may seem like a stranger
We must stand together, hand in hand
And strive to create a new, more peaceful land
For the chaos in the Middle East is not insurmountable
It is not inevitable, unchangeable
It is a product of human choices, of human actions
And we have the power to make a difference, to create a more just world, a more peaceful vision.
