Midnight Poem by Claire Lang

Midnight

Lying in the dark
A baseball game
so quiet on the radio
Freezing air blows through the open window
the station screen
so damn bright
and I think of you
lying in a bitter freezing midnight
whisper words from perfect haunting songs
the icy air
freezes tears
rain in my eyes
close but far far away
do you sleep
or do you lie in sorrow
a biting wind stroking your skin
like the dream in my angry mind
do you lie awake at midnight
my face in your mind
do you freeze and shatter
for me
for midnight is here.
