Midnight Mountain View Poem by Eric Paeplow

Midnight Mountain View

Neath a harvest moon
Far removed from view
We roam
The skies above
Of deep azure blue
The trees of deep green
Surrounded by snow capped peaks
In our midnight mountain view

The whole world is ours to explore
And we feel earth's fire
Neath our toes as we go
Our lives exempt from probing eyes
Our stories told in darkened wood
Our sermons spoken
From our ghostly voices heard
Echoing through the trees
And stones and running brook

Hanging heavy in the air
Above the hush of silent snow
As if to tell our tale
To the still sleeping world
Our music
Keeping time as we move
Though we do not sing to hear an answer
We sing because
We have a song to be heard...
