Mighty Warriors Poem by Cindy Cato

Mighty Warriors

Rating: 3.5

We come from a race proud and strong
A warrior from the past of days long gone
Riding through the plains proud of free
Hunting to feed my tribe and family
Riding through the planes my worries go
To chase down the mighty Buffalo
His meat we will eat just to survive
His hide is our home our families pride
We take from the land only what we need
Giving thanks to mother earth for our tribe she feeds
The white man came to us one day
To destroy our proud human race
What the white man did not understand
Is that when God created him he also created the red man
He tried to steal our pride and soul
He took away our land and gold
He put us on a reservation
He made us live with deprivation
He thought he took away our pride
But the mighty warriors learned to survive

none can take away our pride, not even the god who created!
